Legislator of the Year
Earlier this week I received a call from my good friend, and South Carolina Federation of Young Republicans (SCYFR) Chairman. Patrick asked me if I could attend the SCFYR Convention today, Of course, I said I would love to if it is ok with Brenda (soon to 30 years of marriage has taught me that). This morning I left home at 7:30 AM headed to Columbia to support the SCFYR, and my friend, Patrick.
There was a great turn out. Two new groups were chartered at the meeting, including upstate Pickens and Oconee.
Many of the cadidates running for statwide office in 2010 were there, and gave speeches.
And then came a surprise.
Patrick began speaking of someone who had always been there when he called and was a good friend and supporter of the SCFYR. He said this person was someone who when "two or more is gathered" is always there. Someone who had been a mentor to him and others in the SCFYR. Someone who they wanted to recognize as the SCFYR Legislator of the Year. Then he asked me to come up.
I was not expecting this. Neither was Brenda, because she stayed home in bed!
Thenk you SCFYR for this honor, and your friendship and support over the years.
Thank you Patrick! You have been a friend, and someone who I have depended on.
